Job Summary:
The Fleet Mechanic will be responsible for performing skilled mechanical work on a diverse fleet of vehicles, ensuring their safe and efficient operation. The primary focus will be on diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types of vehicles, including but not limited to cars, trucks, vans, and specialized fleet equipment. The Fleet Mechanic will collaborate with the fleet management team to prioritize and complete work orders in a timely manner, while adhering to safety guidelines and industry standards.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on fleet vehicles to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks, including fluid changes, filter replacements, and tire rotations, to extend the lifespan of fleet vehicles
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using advanced tools and equipment
- Repair or replace faulty parts, components, or systems, while following manufacturer's guidelines and specifications
- Perform accurate record-keeping of all maintenance and repair activities, including work orders, parts used, and hours worked
- Collaborate with the fleet management team to prioritize and schedule maintenance and repair tasks to minimize fleet downtime
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working with hazardous materials, tools, and equipment
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring that tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained
- Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in fleet maintenance and repair
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical education or certification in automotive mechanics is strongly preferred
- Proven experience as an auto mechanic, preferably within a fleet maintenance environment
- In-depth knowledge of automotive systems, components, and diagnostic tools
- Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in vehicles
- Proficiency in using computerized diagnostic tools and software
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Physical stamina to lift heavy equipment, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
